Our Values & Platform

Accountability & Transparency

Residents shouldn't have to dig through legal notices or show up to a poorly advertised meeting to find out what's happening in their own backyard. We'll put meeting agendas, minutes, and major project updates in plain language, across the platforms residents actually use, including social media, e-newsletters, text messages, and print.☑ Every major development gets a public discussion before it's decided, not after.
☑ Budgets and contracts get published in plain language.
☑ If it affects your property or your municipal taxes, you'll hear about it and have the opportunity to be heard.
☑ Residents should be able to easily understand decisions that affect their neighborhood, property, and quality of life.

Preserving Our Rural Character

Andover's character: our farms, waterways, and open land, is the reason most of us live here, and it's disappearing decision by decision. We support growth that strengthens the tax base without selling off what makes this town worth living in. That means redevelopment of existing commercial space before new sprawl, real environmental review before approvals, and public hearings before agreements are signed, not after.☑ Growth should be strategic and protect our natural resources.
☑ Redevelop, capitalize upon and collaborate with what's already built before paving what isn't.
☑ Every large-scale project (including PILOT agreements) gets a public cost-benefit hearing before any vote.

Small Business & Sustainable Growth

Andover's small businesses built this town's economy, and they shouldn't have to fight township bureaucracy to grow. We want to form a Small Business Advisory Committee with real input into procedures that affect local and home-based businesses.☑ Local businesses should have a direct line to the Committee where the focus is collaboration.
☑ We'll examine past experiences (fees, red tape) for small businesses, recognizing their value to the town and its residents, and make streamlined changes that facilitate their growth responsibly.

Fiscal Responsibility

Every dollar the township spends is a dollar residents earned. We'll review major contracts and recurring costs on a regular schedule, require transparency on long term costs up front, and publish the budget in a format residents can actually read.☑ No new spending without a clear answer to: what does it cost, who pays, and for how long?
☑ You should be able to understand the township budget without an accounting degree.

Strong Schools, Strong Community

We're so proud Andover Regional ranked #1 in Sussex County on the state's core proficiency testing. School quality impacts the value of homes, and the continued growth and success of our community.☑ We'll build a real working relationship between the Committee and school leadership so township decisions support, rather than strain, our schools.
☑ Better coordination between the township and the district means fewer surprises for families.
